Thanksgiving is just one week away, and that means so is the “open season” of eating we call The Holidays!
It starts with you behaving by sticking to the crudite before your meal. You plan to eat some white meat and salad, but then you have a glass of wine. Before you know it, you’re sampling stuffing, some potatoes, and pie. Then the pie goes a-la-mode and the diet goes hasta la vista!
Even as a dairy-avoiding-vegetarian, overeating packs on the pounds. I have been dieting diligently for a few months now and really don’t want to ruin the seven pound weight loss that I have earned. I am also being realistic that this month is the start of major mealtime-meltdowns!
With that, I present to you my holiday eating damage control diet: SOS!
I think it’s the perfect rescue from drowning in a sea of calories this Holiday Season, so read on for more!
Heidi Klum isn’t giving anyone the “cold shoulder” looking this hot!
Aside from being sexy eye-candy, our shoulders assist in daily movement and help physical performance more than you may be giving them credit for. Carrying heavy bags of fresh autumn fashion, dressing in your new duds, even swiping your credit card all call upon the most complex joint in your body.
As a former baseball pitcher, shot-putter, discus thrower and jiu-jitsu player, my shoulders have suffered soft tissue tears, bone chips, tendinitis, and arthritis. After multiple dislocations and painful separations, nobody knows how important his shoulder strength is more than I do.
Check out my tips below to get your strongest, sexiest shoulders ever!
Ballerinas don’t just have tight buns on their heads!
In my last two posts, I’ve described just how hard dancers work for their bodies. I’m not one of these trainers who claim to have the magic formula known as the diet and exercise plan that will give you the perfect body in only twenty minutes a day! It takes time, commitment, and desire.
There is no replacement for the repetition, genetic predisposition, and physical dedication that ballerinas have. However, we can transform our bodies by applying these principles to our own training. Even though I won’t promise you that by doing these exercises you’ll look like Sylvie Guillem does in this pic, I can promise you that you’ll hold your head higher and feel stronger in your own daily routine.
Read on for a workout that will keep you on your toes at the gym!
I will admit that I am already a dairy avoiding pescatarian, but The Bitch takes it all the way the max. No meat, no seafood, no dairy. Also, just like doing laundry, the diet doesn’t want whites (sugar, flour, rice) anywhere near your colors (veggies and fruits)!
The results? Lots of extra energy and weight loss to boot! Find out more about what I’m eating and how it’s working on the Skinny Bitch Diet!
Recently I wrote about a ballerina’s life , recalling the over-arching passion and drive that guides a dancer through her life.
Today, I set out to demystify dancers even further. I want you to realize that, yes, we are driven by passion, but just like any other job, there are moments every day that make us question “why do I do this?”

Tori Spelling or Jessica Biel ? Paris Hilton or Gwyneth Paltrow? Giuliana Rancic or Jennifer Aniston?
While all of these women are beautiful and thin, there’s a big difference between skin-and-bones and long-and lean. Ladies, skinny does not equal healthy!
What determines whether you are skinny-fat or skinny-fit is your body composition.
Body composition refers to the amount of lean tissues compared to fatty tissues in the body. A healthy percent of body fat at any age is between 12% and 26%. We think poor Tori is hanging on by a string to the low end of that range. She may be skinny, but it’s scary not sexy!
Read on to find out how to optimize your body composition and stay skinny-fit forever!
We all know that we can fight fine lines by eating clean and filling up our plates with lots of colorful fruits and veggies. The question is, do you know which vitamins and minerals your skin really wants you to take in?

Ahh, Monday! A fresh start to a new week full of possibilities. Why not begin your week with a healthy and positive change by going meatless?

The Special K Challenge(SKC) has been making meal planning insanely easy. Two out of three meals a day consist of a bowl of cereal! I have also been following the plan’s recommendation of munching on two different Special K snack items (one mid-morning and one mid-afternoon), and adding a serving of fruit with my meals.
With eight flavors of cereal, fifteen snack options, and eight additional meal-supplement products there is a lot of variety to keep you from getting bored.
Read on for my picks of the week and also for a tasty SKC recipe too!
I just completedRound 1 of The Princess Project, which was The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno. Over the past month I followed several different “Eat Clean” meal plans, worked my butt off at the gym, and blogged about it along the way! I’m now ready to move on to Round Two, and a whole new diet strategy.

Lunges in lucite stilettos may not be catching on as the newest fad in training your tush, butt check out a few kick-butt non traditional moves ( no squats or lunges!) that were recently highlighted in Oxygen Magazine!
I completed one week of Tosca’s “Cooler One” meal plan, which was a big change from the rest of The Eat Clean Diet so far. I ate more cucumbers and zucchini than I’ve ever had in my life! Yes, I really wanted more carbs than the plan allows, but I did my best 99% of the week, and I lost another pound!
I’ve been an Eat Clean-vegan all , and am feeling fantastic! I’ve lost three pounds total, so far, and am heading to the beach today…in a bikini!
People tend to think that a vegan diet is super bland and restrictive, but that couldn’t be further from the truth! The Eat Clean Diet already promotes cutting down on dairy (no one ever lost weight on the “eat cheese diet”), avoiding alcohol, and sticking to lean proteins, so veg’ eating fits the bill perfectly!
Read on for some tips on adopting some vegan-ism into your diet and also for the recipe of the quick, delish Eat Cleansnack I’m packing in my beach bag ! Continue reading →
Week two is up, and I am happy to report that I lost 2 pounds!
It was a tough week all around. I had to travel all day on Thursday, but managed to still eat clean. I really aimed to buckle down on the portion sizes and eating 5 meals a day. I even brought my own leftover veggie rice noodles to eat on the plane, and while I’m sure no one else appreciated the fragrant onions and garlic, I was happy to have stuck to my plan!
I also kept it up at thegym. Saturday morning, I took a step aerobics class for the first time since the 90’s. It should have been called “kick” because that’s what it did to my body! The instructor did a phenomenal job of mixing things up with step, weights, Bosu, and abs. I have to say that the biggest motivator for me was keeping up with my 60-something mom! Kudos to you, Sue (and happy birthday!).
What I learned this week:
Buy re-usable containers in the sizes you need to help you keep proper portions. Don’t be cheap! Once you have them, they make life way easier.
Mix up your workout as often as you can! I can’t believe that a step aerobics class challenged me as much as it did. Working out with a friend helps too!
Persistence pays! The scale finally moved!
My goals for Week 3:
I’m going for the Vegan Meal Plan this week! That means paying extra attention to ingredients, avoiding too much processed vegetarian fare, and keeping track of carbs. Tosca’svegan meal plan in The Eat Clean Diet book is excellent and motivated me to go back to being a super-veg for the week!
6 work outs this week!
Lose another 2 pounds. This isn’t going to be easy, but I really want it!
I’ll check in to keep you posted on the week, workouts, and what I’m eating. I feel a recipe or two coming on as well 😉
Check out this articleon Jessica Simpson’s extreme vegan diet to see how to do it right!
The Eat Clean Diet isn’t the only thing conditioning my body back into shape. I have been hitting thegym regularly and HARD!
The worst part about beginning to weight train and exercise again is the pain that comes with the process of building up muscle strength and endurance. You feel like you got hit by a Mack truck!
These “training pains” are a very important and unavoidable phase of getting in shape. There’s actually a name for this process: conditioning. Since I haven’t completely been out of the gym, I am re-charging my body with some intense weight and cardio combos.
I survived the 4th of July without exploding my whole diet!
I said it would be a challenge, and it was. I have to admit that I “indulged” in two cheat meals, but I really did my best to make them as cleanas possible, and enjoyed them tremendously! I have also been kicking my booty big time at the gym, so I’m hoping to still see a little change in the scale at the end of Week One.
Beauty, shoe, and bag buff Jessica Simpson recently tweeted about her cleansing “extreme vegan diet“. While we applaud Jess’s decision to take better care of herself, her comment about not doing this for “weight loss” looks to be true. As Jessica approaches the big 3-0, she has steadily been gaining weight over the years.
There’s no denying that Kelly Killoren Bensimon has a body that could rival women even 20 years younger than her, but we’re wondering if she’s taking her dieting a little too far. Should she change her name to “ANA“? In a recent article on The Huffington Post, Kelly reveals what she eats in a day. Check out how this super cut cougar keeps the calories way down! Does 6 meals a day, eating all the food groups, and not starving yourself sound like a diet? Well, it is! Welcome to The Eat Clean Diet- Recharged. Created by fitness competitor and nutrition expert, Tosca Reno, this “diet” is actually more of a a lifestyle change. The idea is to fuel your body with “clean” foods, flush fat and toxins with water, and stabilize your systems. Read on for a sample of a day’s worth of meals, and how I’m feeling after my first day!
I want to be a “25” again before I turn “35“. If you’re thinking, “Don’t we all?”, you’re probably around the same age as me, and dreaming of your wild nights out and being able to survive on 4 hours of sleep every night. What I really mean though, is that I have a pair of ultra sexy, J Brand jeans that are a size “25“, and I did fit in them when I bought them 2 years ago (in my 30’s!). Now, they just lay there, patiently waiting to go out one night, like a lonely housewife.
My plan of action:
try a new diet every 30 days
hit the gym regularly
take control of my body for the rest of my life!
This is The Princess Project; follow me to learn, laugh, and lose!
Kellan Lutz has a supernatural 6-pack to die for! I want those abs (for myself and for my beefy beau).
How does Kellan do it?
There are actually two factors to flaunting a perfect core: the first is training the abdominal area effectively, and the second is getting the definition to show(like in this pic of Lutz)through total body fitness and healthy eating. Are you ready to attack your abs?
Besides her “Do Anywhere Ab Routine”, Jewel attributes her great look to staying away from “an all-or-nothing mentality when it comes to food”. “The more extreme I am, like saying that ‘I’m not going to eat carbs’, the further it’s going to swing to the other side and i’m going to binge”, says the beautiful singer. Jewel stays trim by eating “lots of raw vegetables, kale, and dandelion greens lightly sauteed in olive oil”.

Katy Perry looked amazing slim and trim in her Miami-esque rubber dress for her performance in Times Square earlier this week!
“I don’t follow trends. I’m just not into what everyone else is wearing. I have my own look, which I call ‘Lolita Meets Old Hollywood Glam.”, Katy says when asked about her fashion sense.
When questioned about her super FIT bod, she keeps it simple: “I’m competitive with myself, and that goes hand in hand with how I present myself. “I’m not only trying to put one foot in front of the other, I’m trying to put my best foot forward.”
Kudos to Katy! There’s not many woman who could pull this off, but she had no problem on top of that car in the middle of the busiest place on earth!
“If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn’t ask me, I’d still have to say it.”.
-George F. Burns (1896-1996)

A few days ago, I was trying to think something new I could add to my daily routine to lose a few pounds, and that’s when it happened… an “a-ha!” moment! Take the stairs!
