Blake’s lineage likely gave her that 5’10″ frame, so if your mom or dad doesn’t have a 36″ inseam, chances are you won’t either. Not to worry though, there is hope for those us clocking in at 5’2ish.
That’s right, ladies, you must lift weights! Here are the Top 3 Leg Exercises that will help you define your quads and calves, and lift your tush. Keep in mind that doing big movements is better than doing small ones (do squats instead of seated leg lifts). We love the two’fers– 2 benefits for the price of 1 exercise!
3. Sumo (plie) Squat
Start by doing 3 sets of 10-15 repetitions 2-3 times a week. After about 4 weeks, hold a 10lb in each hand.
Running on the treadmill might cut it for some of us but it’s best to switch it up. Bike, run, use the stair-mill or elliptical. Add some interval training to your regime. For example, run at a relatively hard pace for a minute and then walk for a minute. Repeat the two minute sets ten times. As you become more comfortable, increase the speed or the number of sets but not both! The key to success is progressive overload, not extreme overload!
You’ve heard it all before. It’s always best to cook and measure your own meals using lots of fruits, veggies and lean proteins like eggs, chicken and tofu. Low fat dairy is great too, such as 1% or fat-free greek yogurt (with berries and a little honey or agave nectar – yummy), low-fat string cheese, and cottage cheese. Keep the cocktails to the clear ones – gin and vodka with soda water (splash of cran). Lucky for us – studies are now showing that 1 glass of red wine per day for women and 2 glasses per day for men may lower the risk of heart attack by 30 – 50 %. Red wine is also loaded with antioxidants, but keep in mind that more is not always better 🙂
